Luke 22:39-46 says:
And he came out, and went, as he was wont, to the mount of Olives; and his disciples also followed him. And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation. And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed, Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him. And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. And when he rose up from prayer, and was come to his disciples, he found them sleeping for sorrow, And said unto them, Why sleep ye? rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

“I am afraid sometimes we think of prayer in an altogether opposite way, as if by praying we persuaded or influenced our Father in heaven to do whatever comes into our own minds, and whatever would accomplish our foolish, weak-sighted purposes.”
—D. L. Moody

John 15:7 says:
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

“The believing man resorts to God at all times, that he may keep up his fellowship with the divine mind. Prayer is not a soliloquy, but a dialogue; not an introspection, but a looking toward the hills, whence cometh our help.”
—Charles H. Spurgeon

Prayer is more than just releasing the burdens of our minds, it is having

that we God with the outcome of our requests. Something else that Spurgeon said is, “Faith has no desire to have its own will, when that will is not in accordance with the mind of God.”

GOD SAID NO TO , BUT YES TO

2 Corinthians 12:8-9 says:
For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

BECAUSE IT WAS WHAT PAUL

, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT WHAT PAUL .

“Suffering has kept many from sinning. God had one Son without sin, but he never had any without sorrow. Fiery trials make golden Christians; sanctified afflictions are spiritual promotions.” —Anonymous

“Oh, what owe I to the file, to the hammer, to the furnace of my Lord Jesus, who has now let me see how good the wheat of Christ is that goes through his mill and his oven, to be made bread for his own table! Grace tried is better than grace, and it is more than grace; it is glory in its infancy.” —Samuel Rutherford

GOD SAID NO TO , BUT YES TO

Here we can see Moses asking God for forgiveness and for entrance into the land of rest.

Deuteronomy 3:23-26 says:
And I besought the LORD at that time, saying, O Lord GOD, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might? I pray thee, let me go over, and see the good land that is beyond Jordan, that goodly mountain, and Lebanon. But the LORD was wroth with me for your sakes, and would not hear me: and the LORD said unto me, Let it suffice thee; speak no more unto me of this matter.

*Jude 1:9 says: *
Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

GOD SAID NO TO , BUT YES TO AN

This is the place where Elijah was at…

1 Kings 19:4 says:
But he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.

2 Kings 2:11 says:
And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

CONCLUSION

Our Lord Jesus experienced this very thing also!

Luke 22:44 says:
And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

“He prayed more

” This Greek word is “ektenesteron” meaning to . To be to the point of !

Jesus was not praying to

the will of the Father, or to it. He was praying to to it.

What is it that you need to surrender to the Lord? What do you request?

ARE YOU WILLING TO SAY…

Luke 22:42 say:
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless

, but thine, be done.
