Sea of Galilee - Next Steps
Message Summary
Almost all the accounts of Jesus at the Sea of Galilee involve a miracle – a miraculous display of Jesus’ power that proved His message and confirmed the faith of His followers. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, the Good News of Jesus’ presence, promises and salvation is being proclaimed throughout the world. We each have a choice, respond in faith and accept Jesus, or respond in self-sufficiency and go our own way. Jesus wants to spend time in your life bringing his miracles, redemption, and purpose. - How will you respond to the presence of Jesus?
1) Do you ever think that someone else’s life seems perfect while yours seems full of problems? Why is that thinking wrong?
2) What can you do to correct that thinking?
Consider This
Jesus’ presence is everywhere. In one sense, God is omnipresent, in another He resides in heaven. His revealed presence is hidden from people because of sin, but is restored through faith in Jesus Christ. In this life, God’s persistent presence provides a deep sense of security and peace for those who believe. In the life to come, believers will dwell in God’s revealed presence. Jesus is close to you right now, whether you feel it or not.
1) Read Jeremiah 23:24. Does this knowledge make you feel comfortable or uncomfortable? Why?
2) According to Isaiah 57:15. What does it take for you to perceive the presence of God?
Jesus is more powerful than anything in the universe and knows all of our thoughts.
3) According to Philippians 3:21, how much is controlled by God? How does this apply to you (see also verse 20)?
4) Since God is sovereign, is he in control of your future? According to Romans 8:28-29, what does God promise about your future?
5) How did the demon-possessed man react to his miraculous healing (Luke 8:35b, 38-39)?
How did the pig keepers and the townspeople react (Luke 8:34, 37)? What do you think was the reason for the different reactions to a miracle?
6) What does Jesus promise to those who follow Him in faith according to John 6:47? What else happens when we believe according to 2 Corinthians 5:17? Do you believe this? How are you new?
7) What does Hebrews 4:13 tell you about God? How does it apply to you?
8) Read 1 John 1:8-9. If you can’t hide your faults from God, how can they be forgiven?
9) What is your purpose in life? Why?
10) Consider the following verses and write out how they relate to your purpose in life.
a. Matthew 22:36-40
b. Matthew 28:18-20
c. John 17:17-18, 20-21
Moving Forward
Read 2 Corinthians 5:1-11, 20 this week and write down your observations, or a principal for each verse. Then write out how each verse might apply to you this week.
God is the author of the miraculous. “For nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).
