1 Corinthians 15:1-5
1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you — unless you believed in vain.
3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.

Sermon Recap
Spend a few minutes reading 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 and recapping the sermon.
- The Big Idea in this week’s message is: The good news about King Jesus is the means by which God regenerates, justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies human beings in relationship with himself.
- “The gospel” is good news about King Jesus and his Kingdom.
- The core components of the gospel include the life, death, burial, resurrection, and appearing of Jesus Christ.
- Flashilight Illustration: The contents of the gospel includes both big picture content (ie. Kingdom of God) and zoomed-in focus content (ie. The Cross & Resurrection).
- The gospel should not be reductionistic (only life/death/resurrection) but it also must include these important components in the context of the big picture.
Sermon Discussion Questions
As you reflect on the passage and the sermon, remember to think in terms of knowing, feeling, and doing: What is revealed to be true, what you feel about that truth (desires/affections), and how you respond to it (behavior) individually and corporately.
- What is Jesus’s summary of the gospel (see Mark 1:14-15; Matthew 4:17-7:29; Luke 4:43-44)?
- How do Peter and the apostles articulate the gospel (See Acts 2:14-41)?
- How does Paul articulate the gospel in other places (See Acts 17:16-34; Romans 1-11 (among many other passages)?
- How do you articulate the gospel?
- What are the most important components?
- How does the OT help you understand each of these components of the gospel? (For instance, how does Genesis 22, Exodus 12, Leviticus 16, Deuteronomy 16, and Isaiah 53 help you understand what happened on the Cross?)
- What components are most significant to you, personally?
- What components of the gospel seem confusing?
- How does the gospel shape the way you see, understand, and live your life? In other words, how does the gospel become your lens for reality?
- How can you embody the gospel as the pattern of life?
