Everyday Jesus: Everyday Jesus is a great way to deepen your Bible reading, prayer life & personal time with Christ.
• Monday: Read Jeremiah 43 After hearing God’s response to their prayer, Judah wrongly determined Jeremiah lied & had evil motives. Denial of God’s word allowed them to do what they intended all along. Pray to the Lord for understanding on how/if we’ve allowed pressure(s) to cause us to follow the lie instead of the truth of the Lord’s word.
• Tuesday: Read Jeremiah 44, 1 Cor 2:1-16. Judah lost sight that God persistently pursued them 7:13, 25; 25:3, 4; 26:5; 29:19; 35:15, 44:4. Further, God connects their land destroyed & out of place in Egypt with pursuit of false gods. As we read today, be reminded, we are given choice to look at life through our eyes or through His. In prayer ask the Lord, “What in my life & perspective is spiritual - or is it all naturally, easily explained?”
• Wednesday: {Day of Fasting} Read Jeremiah 44. Verses 7-10 asks Judah 3 questions: Why do you cut yourself off? Why do you provoke God by worshipping false gods? Have you forgotten the evil God has overlooked (grace)? Seek the Lord for how any/all of these questions are at work in your own relationship with the Lord.
• Thursday: Read Jeremiah 44, Exodus 32:1-6, Proverbs 3:5-8 Instead of listening to the Lord Judah continues in false worship by wrongly crediting the queen of heaven for their blessings[vv16-19]. Judah’s disobedience led to where they are in Egypt, under that pressure they continue to rely on their own understanding and credit a false god, which will never help them! This underscores the need for Christ to come & provide a way for us to connect with God. Today, pray along these lines, “Lord, show us the truth of where we are in these verses”.
• Friday: Read Jeremiah 44 Sin is not a popular topic, but as Jeremiah reminds Judah [vv20-23], where they see the pursuit of false gods as their strength, it actually is a sin that explains why they are where they are. Let’s seek the Lord to understand how our own unrepentant sin contributes to where we are.
• Saturday: Read Jeremiah 44 The big point of God’s punishment toward Judah is to demonstrate the vast difference between His word and “Ours”. Those that heed His word will survive, those that won’t listen or make it out of Egypt. Pray the Lord will bring you to a deeper place of knowing God’s truth for your life.
