Big Idea

The apostle Paul gives us beautiful pictures of what it looks like to be a follower of Christ and the joy we experience in that relationship. Paul has described God as the God of all comfort and continues to present God as giving the apostles comfort through suffering and restlessness.

OPEN
This Sunday, we continued our series by looking at the true light that is Christ in John chapter 1, verses 6-13. As Pastor David talks about the light as both the person of Jesus and the gospel that he brought, Paul’s message to the Corinthians backs up this idea of Jesus as the true light.

What jumped out at you from the message this week? What led you to really think or even better, to change your actions?

READ
Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-6
1Therefore, since we have this ministry because we were shown mercy, we do not give up. 2Instead, we have renounced secret and shameful things, not acting deceitfully or distorting the word of God, but commending ourselves before God to everyone’s conscience by an open display of the truth. 3But if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4In their case, the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelievers to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5For we are not proclaiming ourselves but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’s sake. 6For God who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of God’s glory in the face of Jesus Christ.

As a group, read 2 Corinthians 4:1-6. What encouragement does Paul begin with in this passage?

What are the challenges that Paul and his companions are facing?

Why doesn’t Paul allow himself to be discouraged

What message does the religious world need to hear?

What method should we use to share the gospel?

What is the struggle that we all face when it comes to sharing the gospel?

LET’S PRAY
Consider the following questions as you pray together as a LifeGroup.
1. Do you see the glory splendor and beauty of the true light of God?
2. Are you, like the world, blinded to the light of the gospel and Christ?
3. If not, Then what steps are we taking to share the true light of the gospel of Jesus with the world?
