Plant Mor Seeds

“Again he began to teach beside the sea. And a very large crowd gathered about him, so that he got into a boat and sat in it on the sea, and the whole crowd was beside the sea on the land. And he was teaching them many things in parables, and in his teaching he said to them: “Listen! Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and devoured it. Other seed fell on rocky ground, where it did not have much soil, and immediately it sprang up, since it had no depth of soil. And when the sun rose, it was scorched, and since it had no root, it withered away. Other seed fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked it, and it yielded no grain. And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” And he said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” – Mark 4:1-9 (ESV)
I. Jesus explains the parable.
The farmer I talked about is anyone who brings God’s message to others, trying to plant good seed within their lives. —Mark 4:14 (TLB)
What is God’s message to others?
For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life —John 3:16 (TLB)
II. You and I do not know the condition of people’s hearts so:
A.
Sometimes the teaching falls on the road. This is like the people who hear the teaching of God, but Satan quickly comes and takes away the teaching that was planted in them. —Mark 4:15 (NCV)
Who are some people God is bringing to your mind?
B. Sow
And in the same way the ones sown upon stony ground are those who, when they hear the Word, at once receive and accept and welcome it with joy; And they have no real root in themselves, and so they endure for a little while; then when trouble or persecution arises on account of the Word, they immediately are offended (become displeased, indignant, resentful) and they stumble and fall away. —Mark 4:16-17 (AMP)
Who are some people God is bringing to your mind?
C. Scatter
And the ones sown among the thorns are others who hear the Word; Then the cares and anxieties of the world and distractions of the age, and the pleasure and delight and false glamour and deceitfulness of riches, and the craving and passionate desire for other things creep in and choke and suffocate the Word, and it becomes fruitless. —Mark 4:18-19 (AMP)
Who are some people God is bringing to your mind?
D. Plant
And those sown on the good (well-adapted) soil are the ones who hear the Word and receive and accept and welcome it and bear fruit, some thirty times as much as was sown, some sixty times as much, and some [even] a hundred times as much. —Mark 4:20 (AMP)
Who are some people God is bringing to your mind?
My work was to plant the seed in your hearts, and Apollos’ work was to water it, but it was God, not we, who made the garden grow in your hearts. —I Corinthians 3:6 (TLB)
