Your kingdom come.

Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. —Matthew 6:10

What is a kingdom?

If we are to sincerely pray Matthew 6:10, it will require:
: Letting go of my kingdom

: Getting to know God’s will

in the Gap: Praying for what God already wants

WARM UP QUESTION
If God were to right now answer every last one of your prayers from the past week, what would happen? Would much change? [Today we are looking at the Lord’s Prayer, focusing on the phrase “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”.]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
1. Pray Matthew 6:9-13 What are the characteristics of a kingdom?
2. Is Jesus implying that God’s will isn’t always done on earth as it is in heaven? How is that possible?
3. Can you think of any verses that express God’s perfect, moral will?
4. Read Ezekiel 22:30. What does this teach us about how God interacts with our prayer?

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
5. How can you recognize when your prayers are more about “my kingdom come” than they are about “thy kingdom come”?
6. Are there anyways right now that God is calling you to “stand in the gap”?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
7. Pray together about specific ways that you want to see God’s kingdom come and his will to be done—in your life, in your family, in our community. As you pray, pray with open palms, surrendering your own agendas and own kingdoms.
