Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God (Matthew 5:9, NIV).

A peacemaker is a person who has peace and brings peace to others.

Called to Peace God has called us to live in peace (1 Corinthians 7:15, NIV).*

Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil; joy fills hearts that are planning peace! (Proverbs 12:20, NLT).

Make every effort to live in peace with everyone and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14, NIV).

Work at living in peace with everyone… (Hebrews 12:14, NLT).

How do you get peace?

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God (Matthew 5:8, NIV).

Peace of heart flows from purity of life.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable (James 3:17, NKJV).*

What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them (James 4:1-2, NLT).

“There is no peace for the wicked,” says my God (Isaiah 57:21, NLT).

God’s Way of Making Peace

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone (Romans 12:18, NIV).

1. Recognize where there is a problem

They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace (Jeremiah 6:14, NIV).

2. Deal with conflict early

The start of a quarrel is like a leak in a dam, so stop it before it bursts (Proverbs 17:14, MSG).

3. Don’t stand on your rights

4. Move toward the trouble

5. Prepare for a long journey

10  For the Scriptures say, “If you want to enjoy life and see many happy days, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. 11  Turn away from evil and do good. Search for peace, and work to maintain it (1 Peter 3:11, NLT).

6. Trust the injustice you have suffered to God

Lord, confuse the wicked, confound their words, for I see violence and strife in the city (Psalm 55:9, NIV).

If an enemy were insulting me, I could endure it; if a foe were rising against me, I could hide.13  But it is you, a man like myself, my companion, my close friend, 14  with whom I once enjoyedsweet fellowship at the house of God, as we walked about among the worshipers (Psalm 55:12-14, NIV).

20  My companion attacks his friends; he violates his covenant. 21  His talk is smooth as butter, yet war is in his heart; his words are more soothing than oil, yet they are drawn swords. Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken. (Psalm 55:20-22, NIV).

For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. 22  He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. 23  He did not retaliate when he was insulted, nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly (1 Peter 2:21-23, NLT).

The Blessing for Peacemakers

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God (Matthew 5:9, NIV).

May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thessalonians 5:23, NIV).

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6, NIV).

As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him (Matthew 3:16, NIV).

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace… (Galatians 5:22, NIV).
