Group Leader Guide

Open with a short prayer and ask God to bless your discussion time.

ICE BREAKER

  1. Highs and Lows: Ask each person at the table if they wish to share a highlight or lowlight of their week.

  2. Question: Who has traveled the farthest from where they were born?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

The kingdom of this world is fueled by 2 things…
• Upgrades
• Experiences
And that’s OK, as long as you are not distracted by what really matters or what you really value.

But if that’s the sum total of your life, you’ll never find it, and you will never find what you really want.

  1. What have been your personal favorite upgrades & experiences?
  2. Have you seen yourself or your loved ones distracted by upgrades & experiences?
  3. How can you appreciate the blessings while staying focused on God’s will?

Pastor Cory unpacks the idea that Paul is saying there is a process, and if you will engage in the process, over time something is going to happen to you. But you have to give it time.
4. Back to the hurry question of last week, how are you avoiding the hurry trap?
5. Think back to a life experience where you didn’t get it right the first or second time but you kept going. What inspired you to not give up?

“When we see as God sees…
We are more inclined to do what God wants us to do.”
6. Why is this a true statement?
7. How is what it impacting your life in a negative or positive way?

MOVING FORWARD

There is a reason to call it a WALK with Christ. The decision to follow Him is made in a second yet the journey with Him takes your whole life. Like Pastor Cory’s visual with the bottle of water, you’ve got to keep going back to Word. Sometimes we put more effort into maintaining our car or physique than we do our eternal soul. Yes, get your oil changed. Yes, go work out. BUT ALSO, yes stay focused on the Word. The fruits of the Spirit are available to all of us, we need just be patient in the process.
8. Are you willing to let the Holy Spirit reveal where you aren’t arent’ patient?

CHANGING YOUR MIND

—‘For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. ’ Galatians 5:16-18 https://my.bible.com/bible/111/GAL.5.16-18

HOW CAN I PRAY FOR YOU THIS WEEK?

Pray for the work that God is doing in them through this study. Pray for the Word to be opened up to them and for the love of God to be with them this week.
