The voice of shame is speaking louder in our culture. It says that we are a mistake; unacceptable and unlovable. How can we escape it? What does the cross say to our shame?

Text

1 Peter 2:4-10

Background

1 Peter is written to Christians scattered across the Greco-Roman world who faced scorn and ridicule from their surrounding culture.

What is shame?

Guilt says, “I made a mistake.” Shame says, “I am a mistake.”

Big Idea

Because of the cross of Christ, we ought to live

in a culture of shame.

The key to living honorably is to keep

to Christ.
