By Their Fruits They Shall Be Known
Part of The Gospel of Luke—The Promise of God Fulfilled
April 30, 2023

Luke 6:43–45 (ESV): For no good tree bears bad fruit, nor again does a bad tree bear good fruit, 44 for each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush. 45 The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

Application To Consider This Week

  1. The word of God says that we are known by our fruit. The fruit being referred to here is the fruit of the Spirit that consist of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Of these which are displayed most in your life? What would others say they see in you? What areas do you need God to work on in you?

  2. Of those areas in your life that need work pray for God to soften your heart, as Him to continue to grow and shape you to be more like Christ. As you grow more like Christ the fruit of the Spirit will continue to grow in your life and be displayed as an outward representation of what God is doing on the inside.

  3. No one is perfect. There will be times that we all fail and do things that are opposite of the fruit of the Spirit. This happens to all of us. God’s word provides great details of how Jesus lived out the fruit of the Spirit in his daily life. Is there a sin in your life that you need to turn from that is preventing fruit of the Spirit in your life? If you are struggling allow God’s word to show you how to follow the example Jesus gave for us.
