10/09/22: SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM: WEEK 17
October 9, 2022

SEEK FIRST HIS KINGDOM

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. —Matthew 6:33

9  In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
10  Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. —Matthew 6:9 - 10

THE SOUL HOPE OF HIS KINGDOM

21  This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope.
22  Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
23  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
24  “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!”
25  The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.
26  It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. —Lamentations 3:21 - 26

17  You have moved my soul far from peace; I have forgotten prosperity.
18  And I said, “My strength and my hope have perished from the Lord.”
19  Remember my affliction and roaming, the wormwood and the gall.
20  My soul still remembers and sinks within me. —Lamentations 3:17 - 20

Kingdom hope comes from remembering God’s character.
Kingdom hope comes when we meditate on God’s character.
Kingdom hope is found in a new day every day.

1. Kingdom hope overflows from the King’s cup.

22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
23  They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
24a “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul… —Lamentations 3:22 - 24a

8  I have set the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9  Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices; my flesh also will rest in hope.
10  For You will not leave my soul in Sheol, nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
11  You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. —Psalms 16:8 - 11

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. —Romans 15:13

2. Kingdom hope comes when my soul speaks / shouts / whispers the truth.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in Him!” —Lamentations 3:24

This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. —Lamentations 3:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. —Proverbs 18:21

35  Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that a certain blind man sat by the road begging.
36  And hearing a multitude passing by, he asked what it meant.
37  So they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.
38 And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
39  Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
40  So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be brought to Him. And when he had come near, He asked him,
41  saying, “What do you want Me to do for you?” He said, “Lord, that I may receive my sight.”
42  Then Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has made you well.”
43  And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God. —Luke 18:35 - 43

3. Kingdom hope comes from the soul seeking in the waiting.

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him. —Lamentations 3:25

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, And delivered me from all my fears. —Psalms 34:4

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. —Isaiah 40:31

18  that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.
19  This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, —Luke 6:18 - 19

4. Kingdom hope in The King always leads to rescue.

It is good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. —Lamentations 3:26

6  For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
7  For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die.
8  But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. —Romans 5:6 - 8
