Three ways to move positively into the future…

   : God is still at work
   Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard and to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear. Philippians 1:12-14

   : Serve like Jesus
   In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. Philippians 2:5-7

   : Opportunities are all around you
   All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household. Philippians 4:22

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. Revelation 7:9a

QUESTIONS for personal or group study

1. Have you grown spiritually in any way since the pandemic began? How?
2. Read Philippians 1:12-14. How does Paul decide if any seemingly bad event (like his jailing) is good or bad? How would his example encourage the Philippians? How is he an example for you?
3. Read Philippians 2:1-11. How does Jesus exemplify humility? How can we serve others in this same spirit? How does this relate to how Christians do missionary work?
4. Read Philippians 4:22. Paul reveals the surprising news that there are new believers even in Caesar’s household! What is a surprising conversion you’ve seen (maybe it’s you)? How does it encourage you to know that the most unexpected people can become Christians?
5. Jesus told us to care for the poor and sick and to spread the gospel. What blessings come to us when we are obedient to that call? How have you sought to be an agent of Christ’s liberating ministry?
6. Care starts with prayer. In what ways can you better pray for people in need at home and around the world? Take some time to pray for them and for our missionaries today.
