Good Suffering
Painful Process
12 Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. 13 Instead, be very glad—for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world. 1 Peter 4:12-13
I.
35 He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed
that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass
him by. 36 “Abba, Father,” he cried out, “everything is possible
for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want
your will to be done, not mine.” Mark 14:35-36
II.
Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to
God, and the other prisoners were listening. Acts 16:25
III.
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they
are doing.” Luke 23:34
IV.
Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will
shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be
as bright as noon. Isaiah 58:10
V.
3 For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has
a chance to grow. 4 So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully
developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.
James 1:3-4
VI.
Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you
to give the reason for the hope that you have. 1 Peter 3:15 NIV
