DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
HUMILITY has become such a cornerstone of our culture, it’s hard to imagine the ‘then and there’ of Jesus’s day. Knowing that, once again, Christ is showing His idea of servant-leader should solidify that we, as Christ-followers, need to strive for humimilty,
- If we say we are humble, are we?
- Where have you seen examples of humility in the influencers of your life?
- What are the warning signs of fake humility?
Pastor Cory made the bold statement “It is not possible to grow in your faith or become who God created you to be if you do not welcome and embrace humility in your life.”
- Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less. What does that statement mean to you?
- How can you invite fearless feedback into your own life to keep you humble?
The idea that we don’t ‘get credit’ for every good thing we do can be scary. If a tree falls in a forest and no-one puts it on Instagram, did it even happen?
- Where is the Holy Spirit poking you to examine your behavior?
- Who will you allow to speak into your life?
MOVING FORWARD
Humility is one of those behaviors that the more you practice it, the less you talk about it. Becuase, if you talk about how humble you’re trying to be, you sound like you’re bragging, right? But our Savior was so humble and yet He was confident about his message. When we stand on our own strength, we will never achieve it. When we rely on God’s strength, anything is possible.
- Where are you being led to confidently practice humility?
CHANGING YOUR MIND
Yesterday is done and with every morning, all of us have a chance to be better, to love deeper, and to go further. It may not make sense in the eyes of the world to be humble but in the eyes of Jesus, that is the greatest goal. None of us are alone and all of us face similiar battles. Be vulnerable this week!
HOW CAN I PRAY FOR YOU THIS WEEK?
Pray for the work that God is doing in our hearts to make us humble and keep us there. Pray for the Word to be opened up to us and for the love of God to be with us this week.
