SEEKING THE SECRET PLACE: CHRIST FORMED IN ME

But seek first the kingdom of God
and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. —Matthew 6:33

6  Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to  loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?
7  Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; when you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8  Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9  Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ —Isaiah 58:6 - 9a

1. When Christ is formed in me in The Secret Place, I have no room for the “yoke” of this world.

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
“If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,” —Isaiah 58:9

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us. —Hebrews 12:1

11  O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open.
12  You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections.
13  Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open.
14  Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
15  And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever?
16  And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people.”
17 Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”
—2 Corinthians 6:11 - 17

43  “When an unclean spirit goes out of a man, he goes through dry places, seeking rest, and finds none.
44  Then he says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.’ And when he comes, he finds it empty, swept, and put in order.
45  Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.” —Matthew 12:43 - 44

Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.” —Ephesians 4:8

Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ. —Philippians 1:6

2. When Christ is formed in me in The Secret Place, my life becomes more about me and Him and less about me and them.

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
“If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,” —Isaiah 58:9

Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
And His disciples asked Him, saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?”
Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him. —John 9:1 - 3

“Judge not, that you be not judged.
For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.
And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye? —Matthew 7:1 - 3

3. When Christ is formed in me in The Secret Place, my heart is changed, therefore my words are like His.

Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; You shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’
“If you take away the yoke from your midst, The pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,” —Isaiah 58:9

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks. —Luke 6:45

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. —Ephesians 4:29

A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends. —Proverbs 16:28

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. —Proverbs 18:21

Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. —Proverbs 26:20

11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, and your need like an armed man.
12  A worthless person, a wicked man, walks with a perverse mouth;
13  He winks with his eyes, he shuffles his feet, He points with his fingers;
14  Perversity is in his heart, he devises evil continually, he sows discord.
15  Therefore his calamity shall come suddenly; Suddenly he shall be broken without remedy.
16  These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him:
17  A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,
18  A heart that devises wicked plans, feet that are swift in running to evil,
19  A false witness who speaks lies, and one who sows discord among brethren. —Proverbs 6:11 - 19

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. —Psalms 141:3

4. When Christ is formed in me in The Secret Place, I can offer soul care because He makes my soul whole.

If you extend your soul to the hungry and satisfy the afflicted soul, then your light shall dawn in the darkness, and your darkness shall be as the noonday. —Isaiah 58:10

Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall
go before you; the glory of the Lord  shall be your rear guard. —Isaiah 58:8

1  Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
2  Let the redeemed of the Lord say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,
3  And gathered out of the lands, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the south.
4  They wandered in the wilderness in a desolate way; they found no city to dwell in.
5  Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.
6  Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He delivered them out of their distresses.
7  And He led them forth by the right way,
8  Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
9  For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness.
10  Those who sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, bound in affliction and irons—
11  Because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High,
12  Therefore He brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help.
13  Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble, and He saved them out of their distresses.
14  He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their chains in pieces.
15  Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men!
16  For He has broken the gates of bronze, and cut the bars of iron in two. —Psalms 107:1 - 16

And you shall know the truth,
and the truth shall make you free. —John 8:32
