Day 137 - Say to the Mountain

Anthony Gantt

“I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.” - Mark 11:23 NLT

“And He did not do many mighty works there, because of their unbelief.” - Matthew 13:58 ESV

At a time in my life, I had to say to the mountain of fear, “Be lifted up and thrown into the sea.” For many years I had a fear of heights. In my late twenties, I worked as a painter at an Elevator company. However, I eventually became an Elevator technician, which meant working at heights, often several hundred feet above the ground – and I was afraid of heights!

Through prayer and courage, I eventually found myself saying to my fear of heights, “Be thou removed and be cast into the sea.” Working at heights on top of elevators became second nature for me. I still have a certain level of caution and respect for heights, but that mountain has been removed from my life by the grace of God.

In life, there will be mountains (hindrances) that we must face to grow spiritually, socially, and economically, but with each mountain we face, there will be a way to remove it if we have faith!

Next Steps

  • Think about it: What is a mountain or hindrance that you need to face?

  • Action Step: Face your mountain! Seek God through prayer and His word, then seek the assistance of friends, a pastor, or professional in the area in which you need help.
