Scripture | Matthew 7:21-23
21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ —Matthew 7:21-23 (NIV)

- As you reflect on this weekend’s message, what challenged you, confused you, or stood out to you?
- Share the story of a time when you or someone you know received difficult news, but later came to realize that it was actually a good thing because there was still time to positively impact a future outcome.
- As you reflect on verses 21-23, which of the difficult truths Jesus shares about how some who think they are His followers are not truly His followers stick out to you the most?
- Jesus says in verse 21 that only those who do the will of God will gain a right standing before Him in life and eternity. Read John 6:28-29. How does this passage bring further clarity on how a person can be sure they are a true follower of Jesus?
- If you are a follower of Jesus, in what ways does the gospel give you hope as you think about the challenges, struggles, or the unknown in your future? (See Eph. 1:13-14, Phil. 1:3-6)
- What is one idea or action point from this week’s message that you will take away or seek to put into practice in your life?
