Scripture: Genesis 24:1-69
Speaker: Pastor Mark Pospisil

Questions:

  1. Have you ever been on a blind date? Was it a good experience, or not-so-good?

  2. Read Genesis 24:1-4. What does Abraham’s instruction to his servant Eliezer (see Genesis 15:2) tell us about the father’s role in his children’s marriages in that era? How should family be involved in our relationships today?

  3. Read Genesis 24:10-14. What does Eliezer’s prayer tell us about how Rebekah was really selected? How have you seen God work to orchestrate the relationships that you have or have had with other people in your life? How has His work demonstrated His goodness to you?

  4. In Psalm 37:4, the Psalmist urges us to delight ourselves in the Lord, and then He will give us the desires of our heart. What do you think it means to “delight yourself in the Lord?” What does it mean, then, when the Lord gives us the desires of our hearts?

  5. In John 4, we read about a woman whose “love life” was an abysmal failure. Yet like Rebekah, a single meeting at a well changed everything for her. How did meeting Jesus change things for the woman in John 4?

  6. Reflecting on the relationships in your own life, how does making Jesus central in those relationships change them?

  7. What are some steps we can take to make Jesus central in our relationships with others—our spouses, our family, our friends?2
