ICEBREAKER: How do you feel about parades?
Read Matthew 21:1-6
What does Jesus send the disciples to do? What do you think was going through their minds as they were untying the donkey? Has Jesus ever asked you to do something outside of your comfort zone? What was that experience? How did that experience help you trust Jesus more?
What is the significance of Jesus riding into Jerusalem on a donkey? How might this be different from people’s expectations of Jesus? How would you characterize people’s attitudes toward Jesus today? How do you think the followers of Jesus can better communicate Jesus’ purpose in the world?
Read Matthew 21:7-11
What stands out to you about the way the people responded to Jesus entering Jerusalem? Why were they so eager to welcome Jesus? What does Hosanna mean? Why would they be shouting this word? If Jesus came into town today, how would you greet him? What might be a similar response to the people of Jerusalem?

How else can we pray for each other this week?
