Psalms 132:1-133:3
132:7 | Like every king in ancient times, the King of kings has a footstool – the temple in Jerusalem. The heavens are his throne (99:5; Matt. 5:34-35).
132:10-12 | The words the Lord has sworn recall the Davidic covenant issued in 2 Samuel 7:8-16. Jesus is the Anointed who ultimately fulfills these promises (Luke 1:32-33; Acts 2:30).
133:1 | Pleasant means “lovingly, charming, attractive” – things that fill the mind with delight. God’s people derive this delight from unity within the body of Christ (John 17).
133:2 | Priests were anointed with oil when they took office as a sign of God’s blessing on them (Ex. 30:22-33). God lavishes His blessing when there is unity among His children.
