1 Thessalonians 4:13 AMP
13Now also we would not have you ignorant, brethren, about those who fall asleep [in death], that you may not grieve [for them] as the rest do who have no hope [beyond the grave].
Psalm 40:1-5 AMP
1I WAITED patiently and expectantly for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry. 2He drew me up out of a horrible pit [a pit of tumult and of destruction], out of the miry clay (froth and slime), and set my feet upon a rock, steadying my steps and establishing my goings. 3And He has put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God. Many shall see and fear (revere and worship) and put their trust and confident reliance in the Lord. [Ps. 5:11.] 4Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who makes the Lord his refuge and trust, and turns not to the proud or to followers of false gods. 5Many, O Lord my God, are the wonderful works which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; no one can compare with You! If I should declare and speak of them, they are too many to be numbered.
Jeremiah 38:6 AMP
6So they took Jeremiah and cast him into the dungeon or cistern pit [in the charge] of Malchiah the king’s son, which was in the court of the guard; and they let Jeremiah down [into the pit] with ropes. And in the dungeon or cistern pit there was no water, but only mire, and Jeremiah sank in the mire.
David cries out to
It’s a beautiful thing when a broken man or woman genuinely cries out to God.
God wants us to pour out our complaints to Him and tell Him our troubles.
Psalm 142:2 AMP
2I pour out my complaint before Him; I tell before Him my trouble.
- David cries out to God and not
Psalm 40:4 AMP
4Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who makes the Lord his refuge and trust, and turns not to the proud or to followers of false gods.
Some are willing to say they need help but will seek it anywhere but from the Lord.
When you are in the pit, you do not just cry out to anybody, you cry out to God.
David waits on the Lord.
He waits
We have hope because we have
Psalm 40:5 NIV
5Many, LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done,
the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.
Psalm 40:2-3 AMP
