10-30-2022 Raising Champions – Raising The Roof
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let
us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us
run with endurance the race that is set before us…” Hebrews 12:1

3 Rules for raising Champions
1) Because I said so, no you can’t ask questions. I love you. (Obey first time, then.)
2) Because I said so, yes you can ask questions. I love you (Obey first time, then.)
3) Here's the reason I said so, yes you can ask questions. I love you. (Let’s talk)

It’s easy to raise the roof, because God wants the roof raised.
“ 16

_ the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and
admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. 17 And
_ you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the
Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. 18 Wives,
submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands, love your
wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your parents in
everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not provoke your
children, lest they become discouraged. 22 Bondservants, obey in
everything those who are your earthly masters, not by way of eye-
service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart, fearing the Lord.
23 _ you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for
men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as
your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:16–24)

Why is whatever you do, so important?
17 And whatever you do, in word

deed, do everything in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him… 23
Whatever you do, work , as for the Lord and not for men,
(Col. 3:17,23)

It means an attitude of gratitude for just another day, changes everything about every day.

Don’t do Gentle Parenting, but be a gentle parent.
18 Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. 19 Husbands,
love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. 20 Children, obey your
parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. 21 Fathers, do not
provoke your children, lest they become discouraged. (Col. 3:18-21)

“Whoever spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is
diligent to discipline him.” (Proverbs 13:24)
“Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives
it far from him.” (Proverbs 22:15)
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod

your staff, they
comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4)

Why is the rod comforting? Because a man’s got to know his limitations. The younger that
happens, the more comfort someone experiences in their life.
When you parent, you are working for the Lord.
24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your
reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:16–24)
“Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in
the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” (Ephesians 6:4)
“ 5 Thorns and

_ are in the way of the crooked; whoever
guards his soul will keep far from them. 6 Train up a child in the way
he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
(Proverbs 22:5–6)
