1. The Holy Spirit us to Jesus.

Joh 6:44 For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up.
Joh 6:45 As it is written in the Scriptures, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me.
Joh 6:46 (Not that anyone has ever seen the Father; only I, who was sent from God, have seen him.)
Joh 6:47 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life.
NLT —NLT

We get to live in the tension and of the initiating love of God.

Rev 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. —NKJV

The Holy Spirit draws us to Jesus by bringing the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross into our view.

Joh 15:26 “But I will send you the Advocate—the Spirit of truth. He will come to you from the Father and will testify all about me.
NLT —NLT

1Co 1:18 The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God.
1Co 1:19 As the Scriptures say, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”
1Co 1:20 So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world’s brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish.
1Co 1:21 Since God in his wisdom saw to it that the world would never know him through human wisdom, he has used our foolish preaching to save those who believe.
1Co 1:22 It is foolish to the Jews, who ask for signs from heaven. And it is foolish to the Greeks, who seek human wisdom.
1Co 1:23 So when we preach that Christ was crucified, the Jews are offended and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.
1Co 1:24 But to those called by God to salvation, both Jews and Gentiles, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
1Co 1:25 This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.

2. The Holy Spirit reveals the Gift of and our need to be .

  • The Holy Spirit does work among unbelievers.
  • Jesus actually promised that He would send the Holy Spirit to “convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment” (John 16:8, ESV).
  • It is at this point that The Holy Spirit reveals the gift of salvation.
  • Salvation is a free gift because of Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection.
  • Responding to that conviction by accepting Jesus as our Lord is how we recieve the gift of salvation.

Joh 16:7 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.
Joh 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world of its sin, and of God’s righteousness, and of the coming judgment.
Joh 16:9 The world’s sin is that it refuses to believe in me.

3. The Holy Spirit the Gift of salvation. The Holy Spirit takes what is and makes us

Joh 3:1 There was a man named Nicodemus, a Jewish religious leader who was a Pharisee.
Joh 3:2 After dark one evening, he came to speak with Jesus. “Rabbi,” he said, “we all know that God has sent you to teach us. Your miraculous signs are evidence that God is with you.”
Joh 3:3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
Joh 3:4 “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?”
Joh 3:5 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.
Joh 3:6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.
Joh 3:7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’
NLT —NLT

  • The Holy Spirit invites us to DIE to ourselves so we can be born again.
  • The Holy Spirit raises us from the dead together with Christ.
  • The Holy Spirit raised Christ from the dead and He comes into you when you recieve the Gift of Salvation.
  • When you are born again you recieve the gift ofthe Holy Spirit.

1Pe 1:3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,
NLT —NLT

Rom 8:9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)
Rom 8:10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God.
Rom 8:11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.

—NLT

Joh 20:19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said.
Joh 20:20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!
Joh 20:21 Again he said, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
Joh 20:22 Then he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. —NLT

  • Verse 22 is an example of the Gift of the Holy Spirit we receive-0lo. with the Gift of Salvation.

4. The Holy sprit gives us .

  • The Holy Spirit provides the believer with an internal witness that we are saved.

Rom 8:15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Rom 8:16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God’s children.
Rom 8:17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God’s glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. —NLT

  • Eternal Security is not supposed to be anchored in a guarantee of Heaven, evan though that is a big part of the assurance we recieve.

Eternal Security has everything to His Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are sons and daughters and because of our sonship we are heirs of God’s GLORY!

Rom 8:9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.) —NLT

Rom 6:3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?
Rom 6:4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Rom 6:5 For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection,
NKJV —NKJV

  • The Baptism of Salvation that our sins are forgiven and we are on our way to heaven if we die.

5. The Holy Spirit us in the body of Christ.

1Co 12:13 Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.
NLT —NLT

  • The Holy Spirit baptizes us into the body of Christ and gives us the assurance that we are saved.
  • When we receive the gift of salvation and give our lives to Jesus, we’re baptized into the Body of Christ.

There are no abandoned babies / orphans in the kingdom of God. In the same way that a natural baby needs a family to survive, when we are born again we are born into the the body of Christ.

6. The Holy Spirit uses as His Transporters (or midwives) of the new life. (evangelists)

2Ti 4:5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. —NKJV

Luk 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time.
Jesus Begins His Ministry

Luk 4:14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.
Luk 4:15 And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.
Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

Luk 4:16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.
Luk 4:17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:
Luk 4:18 “THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS UPON ME, BECAUSE HE HAS ANOINTED ME TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR; HE HAS SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, TO PROCLAIM LIBERTY TO THE CAPTIVES AND RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND, TO SET AT LIBERTY THOSE WHO ARE OPPRESSED;
Luk 4:19 TO PROCLAIM THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD.” —NKJV

- The Holy Spirit is with us and in us as we go into all the world and make disciples.

Mat 28:16 Meanwhile, the eleven disciples were on their way to Galilee, headed for the mountain Jesus had set for their reunion.
Mat 28:17 The moment they saw him they worshiped him. Some, though, held back, not sure about worship, about risking themselves totally.
Mat 28:18 Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you:
Mat 28:19 Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Mat 28:20 Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” —MSG
