MAIN IDEA:
In a world that tries to lead us away from God,
His word is a light unto our feet and a lamp unto our path.
It is the God-breathed inspired message that He has given us. It teaches us who He is, who we are, and what living in His kingdom looks like.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. NIV
Think about this:
God’s word has over 40 authors, in 3 different languages, across vastly different cultures, over a 1500-year period tell one consistent story.
MAIN IDEA:

Psalm 119:105-106
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path. 106 I have sworn and I will confirm it, That I will keep Your righteous judgments. NASB
Like Psalm 119, our ability to not get lost in a shifting culture is the same answer … the word of God.
Why is God’s word everyday important?
1. God’s word everyday becomes an anchor of truth in a shifting world.
Matthew 24:35
Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away. ESV
Matthew 7:24-25
24 “Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine, and [a]acts on them, will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell and the [b]floods came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. NASB
2. God’s word everyday helps me live more Christ-like.
John 1:1;14
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God … 14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. ESV
John 17:17
Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. ESV

How do I read His word every day?
Tips:
1. Everyday devotions – even if they are short.
2. Put key scriptures up in key places that you can meditate on
3. Get involved with studying and learning opportunities – Small groups, Deeper steps
4. Just like pray without ceasing…think on God’s word without ceasing.
