CHOOSING TO ‘SEE’
Message Date: 8/6/23
Speaker: Pastor Rod Hidalgo
Do for one what you’d like to do for all.
Characteristics are important.
A characteristic of Jesus’ ministry was leading with
.
Jesus SAW:
- What others
- What others
- What others did not
Truly ‘Seeing’ leads to Compassion.
Do we even SEE the needs around us?
Are we attentive to those who are struggling?
Do we have our antennas up to notice the needs around us?
Reasons we don’t see:
- Too busy?
- Self-consumed?
- Don’t want our hearts to be broken?
Matthew 6:2-3
2 “So
Before you can give, you must see the needs around you.
Matthew 9:36
36 When he
Moved with Compassion: literally moved inward parts; feel it in your gut.
What has your level of compassion for others been lately?
Do you have any margin in your life to have compassion for others?
Matthew 9:37-38
37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
We have a dual role:
- Role of a Sheep
- Role of a Shepherd
A Shepherd notices things that sheep cannot see.
The Church prayed, God did a miracle and released Peter from prison, and still the Church doubted.
Rodrigo’s Living Translation:
The NEED is plentiful but THOSE WHO SEE ARE FEW, therefore pray earnestly to the LORD OF THE NEEDS, to send out THOSE WHO SEE NEEDS…
God’s Secret Weapon to Love the World is YOU!
Truly ‘Seeing’ leads to Compassion.
COMPASSION FATIGUE
The feeling that you have no more empathy left to give
We are able to see things that others cannot see based on our life experiences.
Who does He want you to see?
What does He want you to see?
Far-Sighted
See the needs of those furthest from you.
Near-Sighted
See the needs of those closest to you.
Challenge this week:
- Keep a ‘NEED’ log
- Write what you SEE
- WWJD Reminder
