
INTRODUCTION: What first comes to your mind when you think of heaven? What is the Biblical basis for what you envision?
READ: John 11:17-46, 1 Corinthians 15, Philippians 3:20-21
DISCUSS
1. Since Jesus isn’t with us in a physical body, how do you think He joins in the suffering, sorrow and loss we feel in our lives?
2. Even though Jesus knew the outcome of His visit to Lazarus’ tomb, (Lazarus would be raised from the dead) discuss in depth why Jesus wept.
3. What are your thoughts that at the resurrection “every person who ever lived being raised to life and living forever in a new body?”
4. What do you think Pastor Robert meant when he said, “the most spiritual place will be more physical than we could ever imagine?” What do you imagine?
5. Read I Corinthians 15. Look especially at verses 35-54. What new insights do these verses give you about the resurrected bodies we will be given?
6. The resurrected body of Jesus gives us a picture of the “shadow of our future self.” What might that be like? What about His resurrected body particularly intrigues or excites you about yours?
PRAYER
Meditate on Philippians 3:20-21. Thank the Lord for what is mentioned in these verses that can give us hope as we wait for His kingdom because the best is yet to come.
