
PRAYER BOOTCAMP-Lesson 3
MATTHEW 6:9-10 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. 13 And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.
TYPES OF PRAYER:
Praise: Hallowed be Your name.
Surrender: Your kingdom come; Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
Cooperation Our father, Give us, forgive us, lead us, deliver us
Petition/Supplication: Give us this day our daily bread
Confession: Forgive us our debts
Forgiveness: As we forgive our debtors
Rescue: Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one
4. Petition: Give us, forgive us, lead us, deliver us
Petition: A formal appeal to an authority regarding a specific matter.
· The Lord is the King of the Universe and should be humbly approached with reverence and respect. Psalm 95:6-7
· Yet, He invites us to come to Him with our needs regarding specific matters. Hebrews 4:16
· We are told to make everything a matter of prayer instead of worry. Philippians 4:6
· Asking and receiving is God’s way of meeting needs. James 4:2
a. Supplication: A humble, earnest appeal for something to be supplied.
Dear Lord and King, kind Heavenly Father, I need:
· Materially/ Financially:
· Physically
· Emotionally:
· Spiritually:
· Vocationally:
· Ministerially
b. Intercession: to intervene, petition, or entreat on behalf of another.
· John focused his prayers for others on their physical and spiritual needs. 3 John 1:2
· Jesus focused His prayers for others on their spiritual needs. John 17:6-19; 17:20-23
· Paul focused his prayers for others on their spiritual needs. Rom. 1:8; 1 Cor. 1: 4-7; Eph.1:15-16; Phil.1: 3-6; Col.1:3-4; 1 Thess.1:2-3; 2:13; 3:9; 2 Thess. 1:3
· We should include their spiritual needs in our prayers for others.
Dear Lord and King, I pray for
5. Confession: Forgive us our debts
· God promises to forgive sincere confession of the sin. 1 John 1:9
· Confessing sin is agreeing with God about the sin.
· Sincere confession is couple with active forsaking of the sin. Pr. 28:13
Father in Heaven, please forgive me for sinning against You by:
Bad things I have done or said. 1 John 3:4
Good things I should have done or said but did not. James 4:17
Things I have thought or felt;attitudes I have carried. Psalm 19:14
6. Forgiveness: As we forgive our debtors
Matthew 6:14-15 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

7. Rescue: Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one
· Satan is a liar who uses lies to put us in bondage. John 8:44
· Freedom comes when we recognize and replace the lie(s) with the truth. Jn. 8:32
Deliver me from my besetting sins and the lies behind them.
SIN:Worry, LIE: fear God cannot be trusted with this. It is all my responsibility to make this happen.
SIN:Lust LIE: gluttony, This will make me feel better, I deserve it.
SIN: Anger/impatience LIE: I have a right to be upset. Because I am upset about
