
IT’S HIGH TIME TO WAKE UP!
Text: Romans 13:11-14
11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
1. Who Needs To Wake Up? (v. 11)
There are many, many people who may very well need to wake up, but Paul is referencing
Could Paul give the exact same exhortation to us today?
- Could he write to South Union and say, “let us awake out of sleep”?

Three things

- Paul says here to wake up and clean up, i.e. put off (cast off) the works of darkness.
Is it possible for Christians to be caught up in such sins?
“Let us walk honestly, as in the day.” (cf. Phil. 1:27)

- Put on the armor of light.
Armor is for battle; particularly
The key to engaging in the battle and using the implements we’ve been issued is

- We need to eat right.
- Paul says in vs. 14 to make no provision for the flesh (i.e. do not feed the flesh).
We need to feed the inner man.
If we feed the inner man the nourishment of the Word of God, spend time with God in prayer, and rely on the power of the Spirit, we can grow in maturity, and not just that, we will be changed to be like Jesus. (cf. 2 Cor. 3:18)
