Day 13
GET INTO THE GARDEN
by Juanita Munroe
“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labour.” —Ecc. 4:9 NIV
Today, it’s time to break ground in your garden and plant something. But before you do this, there are some decisions to be made.
Firstly, you must put your heads and hearts together and decide what you are going to grow, i.e. herb or vegetable, then how you’re going to grow it, i.e. will you make a container garden or use an area in your backyard, or a community plot, etc. You are now a team working together to sow seeds and reap a bountiful harvest.
As you plant this tangible garden of butternut squash, tomatoes or whatever you may plant together, also begin to plant the intangible seeds of love, kindness, forgiveness, etc. Remember that when you plant a seed of corn you may reap an ear or two from that one seed.
The return on the seeds planted whether in the soil of the earth or the soil of you or your spouse’s heart are multiplied exponentially, so much so that you end up with an overflow.
This abundance can be stored up for times of famine or dry seasons because they will come; you just have to be prepared. Make a deposit of the overflow into the pantry and the bank of your relationship so that you can make a withdrawal when needed.
The mechanics of preparing to till the soil in order to sow can be tedious, but Oh, the joy that bursts forth on the day of harvest. “We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.” Plant only what you want in your garden and your relationship so that you may reap what is desired and deserve. My Mother use to say, “You can’t plant peas and expect to reap corn, it’s’ impossible.: So in short, plant only what you want to reap!
Prayer
Father, we come in Jesus’ name believing that you hear us when we pray. Please give us a glimpse of what you have gone to prepare for your bride” the Church” on that day when you come to claim her as your own, ‘a bride without spot or wrinkle.’ May we seek to make our marriages a slice of heaven on earth. Amen.
