Mark 5:1-5
1They went across the lake to the region of the Gerasenes. 2When Jesus got out of the boat, a man with an evil spirit came from the tombs to meet him. 3This man lived in the tombs, and no one could bind him any more, not even with a chain. 4For he had often been chained hand and foot, but he tore the chains apart and broke the irons on his feet. No one was strong enough to subdue him. 5Night and day among the tombs and in the hills he would cry out and cut himself with stones. 6When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him.
Mark 2:17
On hearing this, Jesus said to them, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Dwell on His
and His
Psa 119:9
How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word.
Focus on His promises, not your promises:
Jesus is not asking you to make a promise that you can’t keep.
He is asking you to receive the promise that only He can keep. When you fail, look at His promises.
Luke 22:32
But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.” NKJV
Q. What are the places that expose you to temptation that God is warning you to flee from?
Q. What do you do when you feel you don’t have the drive or power to flee?
Q. Why is it important to not rely on our self-effort to make promises?
Q. When we feel dirty in sin or fall back into temptation, we can still go back to God. Discuss how God’s grace and compassion help us overcome the feeling of shame or guilt.
