False Weights
9 Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”? 10 Differing weights and differing measures— the Lord detests them both. 11 Even small children are known by their actions, so is their conduct really pure and upright? 12 Ears that hear and eyes that see—the Lord has made them both.
Proverbs 20:9-12
A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?
Proverbs 20:24
The Lord detests dishonest scales, but accurate weights find favor with him.
Proverbs 11:1
I. HOW DOES GOD WEIGH PEOPLE?
It is the Word of God, the Bible, the two-edged sword of the Spirit that judges all the unsaved on the Last Day. The Lord Jesus Christ said in John 12:48:
“He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”
II. WHAT IS AN ABOMINATION TO GOD?
A false gospel is an abomination to the Lord because it leads people to another god.
Diverse weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good.
Proverbs 20:23
III. WHAT IS GOD”S DELIGHT?
The Perfect Stone is the Lord Jesus Christ. When we are in Christ, we have the righteousness of Christ credited (imputed) to us, and we have become the delight of the LORD.
13 The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread. 14 He will be a holy place; for both Israel and Judah he will be a stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem he will be a trap and a snare.
Isaiah 8:13-14
