6G: Teach Us To Pray

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. —John 15:7

What is prayer?

Prayer is man giving God the legal right and permission to interfere in earths affairs.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. —2 Chronicles 7:14

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. —Luke 18:1

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. —Ephesians 6:18

Be joyful always; pray continually without ceasing; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. —1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. —Matthew 16:19

“One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When He finished, one of his disciples said to him, ‘Lord, teach us to pray…’” —Luke 11:1

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one, for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever.” —Matthew 6:9-13

Teach Us to Pray

“Our Father in heaven”

1. Have in your relationship with Him.

“Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.” —Hebrews 4:16

“Hallowed be Your Name”

2. Him and His Name.

“Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits. —Psalm 103:1-2

“Your Kingdom come Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”

3. for His agenda first.

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” —Matthew 6:33
“…yet not my will, but yours be done.” —Luke 22:42b

“Give us this day our daily bread”

4. Depend on Him for you need.

“…how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” —Matthew 7:11b
Here’s the promise…
“And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.” —Philippians 4:19

“Forgive us our debts/trespasses as we forgive our debtors”

5. Get your right with God and people.

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” —1 John 1:9
“For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” —Matthew 6:14

“And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one”

6. the enemy.

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” —Ephesians 6:10-12
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” —James 4:7b

“For yours is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory forever”

7. Release your faith with absolute assurance in .

“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us–whatever we ask–we know that we have what we asked of him.” —1 John 5:14-15
“With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.” —Mark 10:27
