READ TOGETHER

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. For the coming of the Son of Man will be just like the days of Noah. For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and they did not understand until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then there will be two men in the field; one will be taken and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the [e]mill; one will be taken and one will be left.“Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.” —Matthew 24:36-44

Know this first of all, that in the last days mockers will come with their mocking, following after their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all continues just as it was from the beginning of creation.” —2 Peter 3:3-4

You will be hearing of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not frightened, for those things must take place, but that is not yet the end. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom, and in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. 8 But all these things are merely the beginning of birth pangs. —Matthew 24:6-8

3. Lovers of

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, [a]haters of good, 4 treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 holding to a form of [b]godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. —2 Timothy 3:1-5

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. —John 15:13

What Do I Do?

1.

The more we become lovers of ourselves, the less bold we are for the Gospel

2.

For they themselves report about us what kind of a [a]reception we had [b]with you, and how you turned to God from [c]idols to serve [d]a living and true God, 10 and to wait for His Son from [e]heaven, whom He raised from the dead, that is Jesus, who rescues us from the wrath to come. —1 Thessalonians 1:9

Don’t let anything, even a good thing, take the place of God in your life

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming quickly.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. —Revelation 22:20

2. Discuss in a Life Group

DISCUSS:

Discuss the ways we can witness to the world.

How difficult is it to spot a false messiah?

In what ways are we becoming “lovers of ourselves?”

What are “good” things we allow to take the place of God in our life?
