SERMON DISCUSSION GUIDE

Big Idea

“So please know and receive that no matter how poor you’ve been at loving him. No matter how powerless you feel against lust. No matter how weak you’ve been in fighting temptation. No matter how lonely you feel when you’re being unfaithful to him. Christ loves you. And he will never stop loving you. For he will never stop loving those who have believed in him. For he is the faithful One, and he’s faithful to us even when we’re unfaithful to him. Why? Because being faithful is who he is, and he cannot deny who he is, and he is always faithful to his people.”

How can we keep this commandment but be guilty of breaking it simultaneously?

How can grading sin on a sliding scale be wrong? Why is this commandment for women just as much as men?

Read: James 4:4
What is spiritual adultery? Why is it a theme all through Scripture? Why are we all guilty of spiritual adultery?

How do you spend your time? How much of your time this past week was spent with God?

What is the Good News of the gospel and hope for the Christian faith, no matter if you have committed physical adultery, lusted after others, or committed spiritual adultery?

How did Jesus respond to the woman brought to him in adultery? How does he respond to us in the same way?
