I. Revival Realities…

A. Just like in the time of Hezekiah, revival can come

_! (II Chronicles 29:36)

B. Revival can come when a group of people acknowledge the symptoms of

_ sickness. (II Chronicles 28:1-4, 19)

C. King Ahaz, father of Hezekiah, closed the doors to the

and essentially said “God does not have a place in the life of this nation anymore.” (II Chronicles 28:24-25)

D. When Hezekiah came to the throne, he made his first item of business the fact that his nation was

_ spiritually. (II Chronicles 29:8-10)

E. Now Hezekiah wasn’t into 10-15 year plans. In fact,

months after he became king, the whole nation was glowing with revival!

F. Reflection/Discussion Question: Think about the nation of Judah at the time Hezekiah came to the throne. What challenges or obstacles did Hezekiah face as he tried to lead his people back to God and toward revival and restoration? When you think about churches like Alpine, what challenges and obstacles do our leaders face as they try to lead us back to God and toward revival and restoration?

II. How Do We Know That Revival Has Come?

    A. We know that revival has come when
_ becomes a priority again. (II Chronicles 29:3-6, 20-21, 25-30)
  1. When revival comes, people worship

    _!

    B. We know that revival has come when the church is passionate about
    !

  2. The word, “consecration” is used

_ times in II Chronicles 29 and 30. The word, “consecrate” means to make holy by setting apart someone or something exclusively for the service of God.

  3. What is God’s temple today? The

_ is God’s temple (I Corinthians 3:16-18). Your own _ is the temple of the Holy Spirit. (I Corinthians 6:19-20)

  4. In other words, this

_ and your _ are His place! (I Peter 1:15-16)

    C. We know that revival has come when there is sacrificial
that characterizes the people of God! (II Chronicles 29:31)

  5. When your love for God is revived, it always results in a thankful heart that gives both

    and sacrificially! (II Chronicles 31:2-10)

  6. It took approximately

months to “pass the collection plates.” (II Chronicles 31:7)

    D. We know that revival has come when the church experiences God-given
    ! (II Chronicles 30:6-12)

  7. When revival comes, we see God

_ relationships that we thought would be broken forever. (Romans 15:5-6)

    E. We know that revival has come when religion is characterized by
    !

  8. Hezekiah had multiple problems with regard to the Passover. The month for having Passover had just passed. The priests and the people had not prepared for Passover. (II Chronicles 30:2-4)

  9. God did not want revival to stop because all the people were not

_. (II Chronicles 30:18-19) Please note: This passage is not suggesting that you can pick and choose what you want to obey in God’s Word.

  10. One of the mistakes that we have made through the centuries is believing that a ritualistic keeping of rules pleases God more than a

    heart.

  11. The heart of revival is the revival of the heart!

    F. Reflection/Discussion Question: Review the five “pieces of evidence” that revival has come that are summarized above. Which “piece(s) of evidence” are you noticing to be present in the Alpine church family at this time? Which “piece(s) of evidence” of revival seems to be lacking at this time? What might that suggest to us?
