The Foolish Word - 1 Cor 1:18-25

are you getting excited… do you have a joyful and confident expectation of good for that thing you wrote down last week… time to start preparing for a harvest…
Deut 11:14… “I will provide rain at the proper time… and you will harvest…”
Psa 107:37-38… “they sow, plant, and harvest… He blesses them…”
Isa 55:11… “word always produces fruit… not return empty… prosper where I send it…”
people will think you’re foolish to be full of hope and joy for something you don’t have yet… let them… don’t accept what world gives… accept what Word gives…
John 15:7… “if My words remain in you… ask and it shall be done for you…”
1Cor 1:18-25… “the word of the cross is foolishness to those headed for destruction… but the power of God for those being saved… God was pleased to save those who believe thru foolishness of what is preached… God’s foolishness is wiser than human wisdom…”
1Pet 1:23… “born again… thru incorruptible seed… thru living Word of God…”
exposure leads to thoughts… thoughts lead to feelings… feelings lead to actions…life revolves around what you are exposed to most… world or Word… pray…
Prov 4:20-23… “guard your heart… for out of the heart come the issues of life…”
Prov 23:7… “as a man thinks in his heart… so is he…”
God wants to do something in your life that is not possible in the natural… have to come to a place where you consider Word of God more than anything else…
2Sam 7:28… “Your words are true… and you have promised this good thing…”
Psa 119:160… “the entirety of Your word is truth…”
2Cor 5:6-7… “we are always confident… for we walk by faith, not by sight…”
Gal 1:12… “didn’t receive from man… not taught… came by revelation of Jesus…”
that thing that you wrote… only comes thru revelation of Jesus… only comes thru intimacy with God and His Word… miracles come by believing the Word…
Gal 3:5… “does God give you the HS and work miracles because you obey law… of course not… it is because you believe the message you heard about Christ…”
in last days… crucial for the church to know the Word… we live by logos (written) word of God… which leads to rhema (spoken) word from God…
Mark 4… “sower sows word… when people hear, satan immediately comes to steal the word sown… seed on good ground, hear word, welcome it, produce harvest…”
logos… expression of a thought; total message of God to man; written message…
Matt 4:4… “man shall not live on bread alone… but on every word from God…”
Luke 1:37… “for nothing will be impossible with God…”
rhema… actual spoken words of God…
Greek Interlinear… hoti ou pas rhema adynateo para theos
English… because nothing with all/every/each spoken word is impossible with God
must get into word of God long enough to get a word from God… breakthroughs happen when we get detailed, specific words from God… rock your etp… faith comes when we get rhema from God, not just logos of God… that takes intimacy…
Luke 1:38… “may it be done to me according to your word…”
Luke 5:5-11… “if you say so, I will let down the nets… caught huge catch of fish…”
Rom 10:17… “faith comes from hearing… and hearing the word of Christ…”
Eph 6:18… “take the sword of the Spirit… which is the word of God…”
rhema… actual spoken words of God…
person who gets word from God is someone who will break thru very gates of hell… demons will know your name and tremble… because you are intimate with the Father and hear His voice… exercise power and authority over enemy…
Matt 16:13-19… “who do you say I am… Peter answered, you are the Messiah, the Son of the living God… Jesus answered, you are blessed because My Father in heaven has revealed this to you, you did not learn this from any human being… on this rock I will build my church and all the power of hell will not conquer it… give you keys to kingdom… whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven… whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven…”
Luke 10:19… “I have given you authority over all the ability of the enemy…”
what should we do while we wait… give God praise and thanks… even before you see that thing you wrote… He gets no glory when you rely on your own ability and performance… grace was given to us so we could totally depend on God…
Rom 4:20… “Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise… in fact, his faith grew stronger… and in this he brought glory to God…”
doxa… opinion, judgment, view; good opinion resulting in praise, honor, glory…
2Cor 3:5… “not competent to do anything on our own… competence comes from God…”
Thanksgiving and contentment go hand-in-hand. Thanksgiving makes us more content. Contentment is focusing on the fact that all we have is from grace. Thankfulness is a recognition we are totally dependent on God and all we are and all we have comes from Him. —Jerry Bridges

Psa 69:30… “I will praise God’s name… will exalt Him with thanksgiving…”
Psa 100:4… “enter His gates with thanksgiving… enter His courts with praise…”
Psa 116:12-19… “how can I repay the Lord… offer sacrifice of thanksgiving…”
2Cor 4:15… “as grace extends… cause thanksgiving to increase to glory of God…”
Phil 4:4-9… “rejoice always… don’t worry… in everything give thanks…”
Col 2:6-7… “live in Him… established in faith… overflowing in it with thanks…”
Col 3:15-17… “be thankful… sing with grace… whatever you do… give thanks…”
1Thess 5:16-18… “rejoice always… pray… give thanks in all circumstances…”
most people get by without God… however, at some point you will need Him… start now… if not, you’ll have no practice when things get bad… too late then…
Psa 34:10… “those who seek the Lord lack no good thing…”
Matt 6:25-34… “seek first His righteousness… all these things will be added…”
Matt 7:11… “your Father in heaven gives good things to those who ask Him…”
Phil 4:19… “God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in Christ…”
my finances are dead… my relationships are dead… my health is dead… sounds like your harvest is right around the corner… trust the foolish word… pray…
Rom 4:17.. “only God can raise dead to life… with word make something out of nothing…”
1Cor 2:6-16… “those who don’t have HS can’t receive these truths… it’s foolish…”
Heb 10:32-39… “after you were enlightened… endured struggle with suffering… don’t throw away your confidence in the Lord… which has a great reward… patient endurance is what you need… then you will receive all He has promised…”
