2 John?
2 Timothy 3:6-7
6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

Why is it important that Jesus came in a body?
Material faith
Creation
Saw the physical and emotional, suffering in Egypt
Worship - journey, place, animal, smells, sights
When Jesus announced his kingdom, a sign was that bodies were restored…
Last Supper, Cross, Empty Tomb
Cross and Empty Tomb
Turning point of all human history
Important things, and then there is the empty tomb
Jesus didn’t just rise as a metaphor
Implications
Jesus wasn’t a body
Spiritual over material
Body didn’t matter
Listen as Paul addresses this in 1 Cor 6
12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything. 13 “Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! 16 Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.” 17 But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. 18 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. —1 Cor. 6:12-20

Because of Jesus’ resurrection
We will also be raised
Bodies matter, the physical world is being redeemed
You are not a soul trapped in a meat sack waiting to leave it
You are person, that Christ died for, that he loves
He has made you holy
Jesus was the Temple
Now you are a Temple
God is glorified by our bodies - when we use them as God designed, God is glorified
Run, work, play, dance, sing, serve
No spiritual/material dualism
Only creation directed toward God’s glory
Or away to a lesser glory…that only leads to death
Massive fight in our cultural over body image
Which bodies should be celebrated?
Scripture doesn’t even understand the question
The earth is the Lord’s and the fulness thereof!
As his people, we call every-BODY to live before the King
The live our lives, Coram Deo - before the face of God
Every aspect, every moment
Not just churchy things vs. secular things
Yet, we need the church to buld us up and sustain us..AS we continue in worship everywhere we go
May we not deny Christ’s renewal of our body by neglecting our mission in the world
May we welcome our coming resurrection
May we come together to the table
