God With Us, Week Three

-Matthew 1:23 NIV
“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” (which means “God with us”).

This week Pastor Cory unpacks how God is able to give us space for hope and healing as we invite him to help us process the loss we have experienced this year. God has new things that He wants to do in us but first, He wants to make room in our hearts for it.

ICE BREAKER
1. HIGH’S & LOW’S: Have each person share a highlight or a lowlight of their week.
2. QUESTION: What did you want to be when you were growing up?

DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
1. What are some of the losses that 2020 has brought to you? What words would you put in your “loss bucket”?

2. Pastor Cory said, “When we know that God is with us in loss, we don’t lose hope”. How have you experienced God being with you this year? Where have you found hope?

3. Pastor Cory talked about how endorphins can help relieve pain, reduce stress, and may cause a euphoric feeling. In short, they can make you feel really good! When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?

MOVING FORWARD
God wants to fill His children with hope during this season: hope for the future, for our families, our careers, our relationships, for life itself. God is the God of hope. He wants to fill you with joy and peace. You receive it by asking Him to fill you and trusting Him with all the things you have no control over. God is so crazy in love with you that He came down to earth to be with us through Jesus Christ. God wants to fill you so full of hope that it overflows onto all those you come in contact with this week.

CHANGING YOUR MIND
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

WHAT CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU THIS WEEK?
