THE JOURNEY: What it means to follow Jesus
Focal verse for the year:
And now I am on my way to Jerusalem, compelled by the Spirit, not knowing what I will encounter there…
But I consider my life of no value to myself; my purpose is to finish my course and the ministry I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of God’s grace. —Acts 20:22, 24
How To Escape The Monkey
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. See ch. 1:9 God is faithful, and [Dan. 3:17]; See 2 Pet. 2:9he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. —1 Corinthians 10:13
How To Escape The Monkey
We have all been dealing with it.
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man
What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun. —Ecclesiastes 1:9
God has power over it.
God is faithful, and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability
He will give you the power to conquer it.
but with the temptation He will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it
For we have not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. —Hebrews 4:15 RSV

When Jesus was tempted
