Psalm 16:11 - New King James Version
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore

God created you to know Him personally and walk with Him along the path He has for you.

  • It is not your intentions that determine your destination, but it is the path you choose in life that will determine your destination.

  • too many of us are running through this life with our eyes closed and expecting God to lead us and then complain when we end up off the path running through the woods.

Psalm 32:8
I will instruct you and show you the way to go; with My eye on you, I will give counsel.

Psalm 119:104-105
New King James Version
104 Through Your precepts I get understanding;
Therefore I hate every false way.
105 Your word is a lamp to my feet
And a light to my path.

Proverbs 6:23
For this commandment is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way to life
The path of life
The scriptures always point us to Jesus
John 1:1-5- 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.

John 14:6
I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

  • you will show me (make know to me) the path to Jesus

In Your presence there is fullness of joy
His presence brings purpose, peace, and assurance.
Purpose means that along this path of life, you will discover who you are, and how you can fulfill the purpose God has for your life.
Peace means that on this path you will find peace with God and the secret to peace with other people.
Assurance means that along this path, you can know with confidence that you will spend eternity with God in Heaven.

Fullness of joy
Fullness means complete – having complete joy no matter the circumstances surrounding us. Our joy outweighs all other competing emotions and overflows in love to others.

When I am in His presence, I have purpose, peace, and assurance and no matter what you do, I am going to love you anyway.
His presence allows me to see others the way that Christ sees them.
His presence is for a purpose.
It will cause me to respond and not to react. When I have complete joy, what I have wants to overflow onto others. You will respond out of what you have.
At your right hand are pleasures forevermore
Whenever someone is at God’s right hand, it means that one is in position of favor.

Deuteronomy 28:3-9
3 “Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
4 “Blessed shall be the [a]fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
5 “Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
6 “Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
7 “The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
8 “The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
9 “The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways.
To pursue God is to pursue pleasure.
How do you measure the value of something in your life? It is most often measured by how much pleasure it gives you. The intensity of the joy you feel is the measure of its value. The strength of your delight, the way you describe how something delights and thrills you shows its value to you. The treasure of God’s wonderful being is most glorified through your pleasure and delight in Him.

Psalm 16:1-11 - New King James Version
16 Preserve[a] me, O God, for in You I put my trust.
2 O my soul, you have said to the LORD,
“You are my Lord,
My goodness is nothing apart from You.”
3 As for the saints who are on the earth,
“They are the excellent ones, in whom is all my delight.”
4 Their sorrows shall be multiplied who hasten after another god;
Their drink offerings of blood I will not offer,
Nor take up their names on my lips.
5 O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup;
You [b]maintain my lot.
6 The lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Yes, I have a good inheritance.
7 I will bless the LORD who has given me counsel;
My [c]heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
8 I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will [d]rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in [e]Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to [f]see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
