SMALL GROUP GUIDE

  • Weekly Vision Casting: At Trinity we talk a lot about our “ones”. We hope that everyone has at least one person in our community that they are reaching out to with the good news of Jesus. Has anyone had a spiritual conversation with their one recently that they want to share about? Partner up and pray for each others’ “ones”.
  • Opening Prayer
  • Small Group Guidelines (if necessary)
  • Warm Up Question
  • Head, Heart, and Hand Questions
  • Personal Prayer Requests
  • SMALL GROUP QUESTIONS

WARM UP: What is one of your favorite commercials of all time and why? [Everyone can answer that one. Then, afterwards, ask for a couple responses to the next question] How do commercials use false dichotomies or false dilemmas to sell their products? [Today we are in our lest week of the series “Can We Talk?” and this week the focus is politics. We are going to look at three false dichotomies that many Americans believe]

HEAD: These questions help us examine the Word.
    1. Split your group up into 3 groups. Assign each group one of the false dichotomies, and have them come up with a biblical, Christian response to present to the group. After each group presents, discuss and give feedback. If you want to make it competitive, then the group with the best presentation gets a prize!

HEART: These questions help us wrestle with what we believe.
    2. Did you find yourself on one end or the other of these false dichotomies, and if so, what is God teaching you about that?

HAND: These questions help us bring truth and beliefs into our everyday life.
    3. Jesus said: “give to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” Are there any ways that you need to give yourself more fully to God?
