Week 2: “A Place at the Table-PEACE” HPC @ Home Guide
Scripture: Philippians 1:9-11
Takeaway: As we study the biblical prophets that call us to care for our neighbors and “make room in the inn,” the lonely and frightened spaces within us are filled with the light of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love.
Take some time to share:
• One thing that you are thankful for this week.
• One thing you need.
• How can the group help?
Read this out loud, and together if you are with others…
Peace waits for us at Advent
Peace waits for us to rest.
Peace waits for our acceptance
of the truth that we are blessed.
In this time of preparation
for the work of co-creation,
for the birthing of a world
of gentleness and play.
Peace is born in us each day!
Answer these questions together or on your own:
• Where do you find peace?
• What keeps you from finding peace?
• As a society we are not good at being “at peace.” We especially find it difficult to be at peace when someone else seems to be benefitting from our hard work. Yet, in this week’s passage (and last week’s) we see prophets & champions of the kingdom of God celebrating those who will reap the fruit of their hard work. Read the entire first chapter in Philippians and discuss or think about how Paul seems to find peace (and joy), despite his imprisonment.
