We continue our thoughts from this morning concerning the deepest needs we all have. We looked at needing someone or something to believe in this morning. Tonight we turn our attention to the last two needs we have:
2. We need someone to love;
3. We need something worthy to do.
The idea of a stone is used throughout this passage and we even alluded to it this morning, that Jesus Christ is the Chief Cornerstone, but He told Peter, which means rock, that Peter would build upon this chief cornerstone.
So what does this means and how does it answer our last two questions? Let’s find out together.
- We need someone to love. This idea, to me, is having a place to belong to. A place that is yours, where you are connected to others who make it up. The refer here is that we are to love what Jesus loves, the church.
- We need something worthy to do. We need a purpose, one that we can find worth in. Peter enlightens us with the idea of offering spiritual sacrifices to God.
a. This would begin by our offering ourselves. Romans 12:1-2
b. The idea of being priest, would lead us to praising Him.
c. Finally, we are to share what He has done for us with those we care abou the most.
Indeed Jesus has the answers to our deepest needs. We must repent, believe, and commit in order to obtain it. Will you do this tonight.
