Day 5 – Applications
Read: I Thessalonians Chapter 1 and 2
The work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christ follower seeks to continually transform us to make our lives more accurately reflect Jesus Christ. Once the Holy Spirit works in us to allow us to say Yes to Jesus, He immediately begins the life-long process of maturing our thoughts and actions to conform us to the image of Christ.
According to Romans 12: 1-2, how can you take steps to allow God to continually transform your life?
What does Hebrews 12: 1-3 teach us about our part in God’s transforming work?
Take a few moments to meditate and allow the Holy Spirit to show you specific actions you could be taking in your life to support His work of transforming you to a more mature believer.
Ask God to reveal any idols that may have crept into your life. Make a list of anything God reveals and write a prayer of confession asking God to help you turn to Him, serve Him, and live in a way that reflects your eternal hope in Christ.
Sharing the gospel is a responsibility of every Christ follower. Every one of us has people in our lives that need the Lord and people that are uniquely positioned to hear the message from us. God wants us to do more than just live a good life and hope people ask about Jesus someday. Remember: Knowing the truth and never mentioning the truth to a friend because you don’t want conflict or ridicule is not loving!
Prayer time: Lord, I pray that I never quench the work of the Holy Spirit in me through sin or selfishness or pride or any of the ways my sin nature seeks to put me first. I want the power of the Holy Spirit to be evident in my life so I can influence my friends to consider Jesus.
Final thought: The gospel is the best hope for this dying world. Are you a good example of the gospel?
