Luke 22:40-44 - The Power of Prayer
* Prayer isn’t about getting

from God, it’s about getting God.
* When you communicate with God you draw to Him.
* Christ’s life shows us how we should model our prayer life.
* Vs 39 - He made prayer a custom of his life.
* Build your customs around who’s you.
* Vs 40 - He brought others into the mix (pray about the same thing!).
* Asking God for things does two things:
* 1) It your focus (under God’s authority).
* 2) It your subconscious brain to work on your behalf.
* Vs 41 - He got alone.
* Vs 42 - Three step prayer:
* 1) God’s power.
* 2) God’s help.
* 3) it into God’s hands.
* Vs 43 - God’s response to this type of prayer.
* Vs 44 - Jesus faced severe anxiety.
* From Healthline.com:
* “Hematidrosis (sweating blood) generally happens when a person feels intense fear or stress. Someone facing death may have this kind of fear or stress, for example. When you are under stress, your body goes into flight-or-fight mode.
* “The body releases chemicals, like adrenaline and cortisol, that prepare us either to fight or to flee danger. We become more alert and our energy increases. This bodily response is usually temporary and doesn’t cause long-term health damage.
* “But in rare instances, the flight-or-fight response can trigger the rupture of capillaries in the body. Capillaries are tiny blood vessels located throughout tissue and are located around the sweat glands.
* “In cases of severe fear or stress, these tiny blood vessels can burst and cause blood to exit the body through the sweat glands.”
* So how did Jesus make it through an anxiety attack?
* Hebrews 12:2 - “Who for the joy set before Him, endured the cross.”
* Jesus into the future by focusing on the joy that was on the other side of the cross.
* An anxious person is not a joyful person.
* Philippians 4:6 - while sweating blood (anxiety attacking Him), He:
* Refused to be anxious, prayed to God, made a petition, wrapped in gratitude.
* Mark 14:42 - “Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!”
* He turned His fear.
*

Luke 22:48 - Moving From Physical to Spiritual
* The greatest spiritual gift in the history of mankind happened the moment Jesus breathed His last, and yet the people who saw it were devastated.
* Vs 48 - They were extraordinarily saddened by what they saw.
* What happened in the

caused extreme sorrow.
* What happened in the was the greatest moment in history!
* Think about this in light of what you may be going through or have gone through in the past.
* The things that are frustrations and heartbreaks for you are actually the greatest blessings you could ever have.
* Philippians 4:6 - “Don’t be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer, petition, and thanksgiving ….”
* Thank God for your trial and watch how His peace will come over you.
* Questions:
* What am I right now that’s difficult but I can be thankful for it?
* Who can I pray for who’s going through a difficulty?
