Jeremiah 29:11 - We must be encouraged that God’s plan is to provide for our welfare and not allow adversity to overtake us.

Foundational Scripture: Hebrews 4:16

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

The foundation scripture establishes the basis for the confidence Christians have in approaching the Throne of Grace.

I. Grace

A. Come boldly to the Throne of Grace. Throne in the Greek is “parrhesia” or free and fearless confidence or to come with assurance (1 Corinthians 15:10; Esther 4:16; Psalm 139:24).

B. Grace in the Greek is “charis” means unearned favor; it is an unearned gift, a favor, or a blessing bestowed as a gift, given freely and never as merit for work performed.

II. Why we need grace.

A. Grace is a gift (Ephesians 2:8; Romans 5:15; Titus 2:11). The Lord is the tangible manifestation of God’s grace.

B. Grace is given to renew us (Romans 6:4). Our minds, hearts, spirit, and strength need renewing daily.

C. Grace gives us unlimited access to God (John 3:3). We have 24/7 access to God.

III. I thank God for grace!

A. Common grace is the grace that God gives to everyone, whether you’re saved or not (Matthew 5:45; 2 Thessalonians 2:6-8).

B. Provisional grace is given because He supplies all our needs (James 1:17; Matthew 6:33; Philippians 4:19).

C. Miraculous and sustaining grace helps us to remain humble as God works in our situations. We must pay attention to Him and not exalt ourselves (2 Corinthians 12:9; Acts 6:8).

D. Saving grace is available because Jesus Christ stands at the throne of God interceding for us (Ephesians 2:4-5; Hebrews 8:1; Hebrews 2:17-18; Romans 10:9-10).

CONCLUSION

• Jesus made atonement for our sins and helps us when we are tempted.
• He understands what you are going through and can help you to overcome.
• Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for our sins.
