MIRACLES ARE MESSY
THE MIRACLE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE MESSINESS OF OUR UNDERSTANDING
THE WORK OF THE SPIRIT UNTO LIFE
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. —John 16:7 - 12
1. The law can no longer condemn those who live by The Spirit.
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who[a] do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. —Romans 8:1 - 4
But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. —Romans 7:8
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. —Galatians 5:16
And having been set free from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. —Romans 6:18
But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit [a]to holiness, and the end, everlasting life. —Romans 6:22
For we walk by faith, not by sight. —2 Corinthians 5:7
2. The work of The Spirit is life and peace.
5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be [a]carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the [b]carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. —Romans 8:5 - 8
For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. —Galatians 6:8
That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. —John 3:6
3. The Spirit of Christ (The Holy Spirit) has set you free from yourself.
9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies [a]through His Spirit who dwells in you. —Romans 8:9 - 11
4. Abundant life is only found living under the leadership of The Holy Spirit (debt - free living).
12 Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. 13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. —Romans 8:12 - 13
For he who has died has been [a]freed from sin. —Romans 6:7
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace. —Romans 6:14
20 But you have not so learned Christ,
21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus:
22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts,
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind,
24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness. —Ephesians 4:20 - 24
5. True freedom and true love is only found in being a child of God.
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”
16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,
17 and if children, then heirs - heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. —Romans 8:14 - 18
