Series Overview: Streaks (consistent daily commitments) have become a culture phenom over the last few years. Whether it’s a social media app or a Pelaton goal - people are ‘streaking’ like crazy! LOL! In this series, we’re going to look to scripture for some things God calls us to have streaks in and talk through the powerful benefits that our lives experience as a result of it.
God calls us and commands us to routinely repent.
ACTS 3:19 ESV
Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out…
MATTHEW 3:8 ESV
Bear fruit in keeping with repentance.
ACTS 17:30 ESV
God commands all people everywhere to repent.
PROVERBS 28:13 ESV
Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and repents will obtain mercy.
REPENT (greek, metanoeō) means to change your mind, to turn from.
The first side of repentance is to know Christ.
EPHESIANS 4:30 NLT
He has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.
The second side of repentance is to grow in Christ.
LUKE 9:23 NIV
Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves
and take up their cross daily and follow me.
The streak of repentance gets you to the place your life was meant to go.
PROVERBS 14:12 NIV
There is a way that appears to be right,
but in the end it leads to death.
Don’t let your conscience be your guide, let your bible be your guide!
The streak of repentance gets you closer to Jesus than you were yesterday.
PROVERBS 6:16-19 ESV
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: prideful eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.
MATTHEW 21:12-13 NKJV
Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”
God made you to be with you.
Repentance clears the way for spiritual intimacy with God.
Our encouragement for your life: Allow the Holy Spirit to change your mind and change your direction with things that are taking you away from time with Him.
