Message Notes:

Matthew 6:9-13
9 Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one [for yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.] NIV

Important Lesson I Have Learned:

God’s will is more about finding HIM and walking in HIS WAYS, than finding the PERFECT CHOICE.

Romans 8:28
We know that in ALL things (mistakes included) God works for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose.

What if God is not as concerned about WHEN and WHERE, but HOW and WHY.

Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do, in word or deed…do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Proverbs 3:5
…in ALL YOUR WAYS submit to him…He will make your paths straight.

John 14:5-7
5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. NIV

THE KEY:

When you spend your time focusing on His ways…We naturally discover His preferred choice.

Tip 1: Jesus only did what he saw the Father already doing.

John 5:16-20
16 So, because Jesus was doing these things on the Sabbath, the Jewish leaders began to persecute him. 17 In his defense Jesus said to them, “My Father is always at his work to this very day, and I too am working.” 18 For this reason they tried all the more to kill him; not only was he breaking the Sabbath, but he was even calling God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19 Jesus gave them this answer: “Very truly I tell you, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20 For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, and he will show him even greater works than these, so that you will be amazed. NIV

TIP 2: God will speak, but we must learn to listen.

1 Samuel 3:1-10; 21
The Lord Calls Samuel
1 The boy Samuel ministered before the Lord under Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions. 2 One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was. 4 Then the Lord called Samuel. Samuel answered, “Here I am.” 5 And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down. 6 Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” “My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” 7 Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. 8 A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.” Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place. 10 The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”… LATER ON VS. 21 The Lord continued to appear at Shiloh, and there he revealed himself to Samuel through his word. NIV

MAIN IDEA:

God’s will is more about finding HIM and walking in HIS WAYS, than finding the PERFECT CHOICE.

John 3:30
He must increase, but I must decrease.”ESV
